Mission & Values

Malelane Baptist Church is committed to making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. While making disciples happens when a person is confronted with the Gospel for the first time, and turns to Christ in repentance and faith, it is so much more than this.

Jesus Christ said, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me" (Mark 8:34). So often, Christians are of the view that to make disciples means to make converts. This is not Jesus' desire for His disciples. Instead, Jesus calls people to deny themselves and their sinful desires, and to follow Him, loving Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.

As such, we are committed to training disciples to deny fleshly desires, and to clothe themselves with Christ. We are committed to maturing through growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. This can only be done through the power of the Scriptures, as Christ's Spirit works in our hearts. It also takes place within the context of the body, the church.

Our prayer is that we all would minister the word to each other as the Lord enables, so that we may be mature in the faith, to the glory and praise of Christ Jesus. To this end, our focus verse is Colossians 1:28: "We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ."
